How to reduce muscle mass for swimming?

I had been playing football and doing some heavy weight training. As a result i have put on a lot of muscle mass. Now that football is over i need to get lean again so i can compete in swimming. Anyone know any useful training methods or exercises that can speed up the process?

  1. muscle that isn’t exercised will atrophy on its own. Just start swimming, you will keep the swimming muscle and within several weeks you will notice the difference.

  2. Swimmers have a lot of muscle also. As long as you aren’t big, you can still swim. My swim coach played football and swam in high school, and he used football as a kind of dry land training for swimming.

  3. Train hard. Do high repetitions and endurance training and limit your protein intake. You’ll lose muscle mass without losing a lot of strength.
