Will drinking a protein shake after a long run help me preserve muscle mass?
Some friends of mine have talked me into training for a half-marathon. I lift weights regularly and I am worried the long runs will reduce my muscle mass more than I want. Will drinking a protein shake help me retain muscle mass?

yes, but so will strength training. just because you’re running doesn’t mean you shouldn’t lift weights — maybe less weight/higher reps but still lift some!
you should always take in some protein within an hour of a long run.
