When I was on accutane, my dermotologist was very strict about anything I took because accutane is metabolized by the liver and is so hard on your body. You should check with your dermatologist and have him reccommend something… after all that is what you are paying him for.
take supplements that don’t have vitamin A in it AVOID vitamin A
I’m not sure what else would dilute the effect, but don’t take a supplement containing Vitamin A while on Accutane. Accutane already contains either synthetic Vitamin A or a derivative of it (I forget which), so you would risk overdosing on Vitamin A. I did it, because on my second or third Accutane treatment, the dermatologist forgot to remind me not to take a multivitamin. I started having trouble holding food down, and didn’t realize then that it might have been because I was taking a multivitamin at least some of the time.
Just eat healthily — and avoid supplements. As previously stated by other responders, Accutane is hard on the liver, and it’s (usually) not necessary to supplement if you eat a good diet. Definitely avoid anything containing vitamin A.
