We can have a bigger impetus to perform our daily practice as the group gives us a sense of belonging and identity as a mediator and promotes us to do good enough to contribute something positive in the subsequent session. Although ideally our incentive must be internal, many individuals need an extra push to keep on the practice even in hard times.

Most people think of Kung-fu or Gongfu, as self-defense or a good oriental workout. But notwithstanding the Chinese movies, real Kung-fu is a philosophy and a set of skills that develop the body, the mind, and the spirit – which in Asian cultures are parts of the same whole. Kung-fu practitioners consider the spiritual and the physical aspects of the self as distinct but not separate. When these are cultivated through mental and physical exercises, they lead to our personal awareness and consciousness which in turn will reflect in our health, our relationships and our interaction with the rest of the world.
