Clean Water Necessary For Americans Too

There are many clean water charities in America and tons of people donate to them. Generous givers want to make sure people in other countries have access to clean water just like us. It’s amazing how much people desire to help others in need.

Included in these organizations is the Red Cross, which has helped underdeveloped countries all over the world for many years. Since water is such an important commodity, one of their main goals is providing clean water to the areas that need it the most.

Americans may want to help the less fortunate, but what they don’t realize is that the water in our country is also contaminated. The difference is that our water doesn’t kill as quickly as in third world countries. Instead, it can cause a long, slow death without the consumer even realizing what’s going on.

More than 300 toxins have been found in the U.S. water supply, including mercury, lead, pharmaceuticals and pathogenic bacteria. In addition, contaminants like fluoride and chlorine are added to water to supposedly make it safe to drink. Actually, the toxins are just as harmful.

Some of the money sent to other countries through the Red Cross and similar organizations should instead be used in America to clean up our own water. It’s a good indication that our water needs help when so many homes have their own water filtration systems.

I’m not saying you should stop giving to worldwide charities if that’s something you do. How about just splitting up your donations? Give part of your money to an organization and use the rest to provide clean water for your family and other people you love.
