Workstations, wave desks and standard rectangular desks

Choosing the right office furniture layout isn’t as simple as you might think. When space is at a premium and employee satisfaction and comfort is important, compromises usually have to be made. However, this does not always have to be the case. A well-designed office space can provide more than just somewhere for your employees to sit, it can also be functional, aesthetic and yet still user friendly whilst also creating a fun environment in which to work.

The most popular type of office desk in use today is the rectangular office desk. Rectangular desks can be used for a multitude of purposes in the office, from being used as a workstation to being used in part as one section of a larger meeting table. The geometric shape of a rectangular desk means that they can be used with other desks to create any layout you wish.

Desks that are handed are a good option if you have the space and want to create more of an aesthetic feel. Left handed desks and right handed desks fit together neatly to create pods of desks in a range of different designs. It’s important to measure your office carefully before ordering handed desks as you’ll need to get the right number of left or right desks for the layout to work.

Another option if you are looking at buying handed desks but you don’t have the space is wave desks. Wave desks are more stylish than standard rectangular desks but are not as large and obstructive as standard handed desks, so are a good compromise. Wave desks are also handed so you’ll need to plan carefully before ordering.

Cable management systems are a must under any office desk. The management system can tidy all those trailing cables away creating a safe environment in which to work.

If you need more storage space, adding an under desk pedestal should be considered. Under desk pedestals can neatly fit under the user’s desk and encompass one or more drawers, so all a user’s work items can be stored safely.
