Suggestions on How To Conserve Power

More electrical energy is wasted each day in the US than in any other country around the world. Our planet is dealing with really crucial issues like pollution and the loss of the ozone layer so it is critical that we do our best to conserve energy and, in turn, save our planet.

We are going to concentrate on several things that each of us can do to conserve electricity and save money as well. These are very easy things that we all can do, we just need to make the choice to do them in order to help our planet and ourselves.

One thing you can do is to simply turn off the lights when you leave a room. A good number of us likely temporarily leave the living room lights turned on when we run to the kitchen to get a snack because we believe we are going to return right away. If you do this for merely a couple of times every day, it could add up to at least half an hour of wasted electricity. While you squandering what could be thirty minutes of electrical energy every day may not seem like much, remember that millions of other people are doing it too. If you combine the minutes for the year, that would be approximately 182 hours of power just for one light in one room for each soul that does this. Now try to multiply that by just 1 million people. The total comes to an astounding 182 million hours of wasted electrical energy that is basically coming from one single room in each person’s household.

Another thing that is causing waste is the habit we have of walking into a room and switching the lights on. Many of us do this automatically. I often catch myself doing this as well. The issue is that most of the time, there is enough light coming into a room. However a lot of us still walk in a room and switch the lights on. And on top of that, because of the natural light coming in, we have the tendency to forget we flipped the room light on in the first place and leave it on for the rest of the day. You simply have to make the extra effort to not turn the lights on if there is sufficient natural light coming inside.

People who leave their televisions and radios on the entire day, when they are not even in the same room is one of the biggest problems. When I come visit my mom, I have to remind her to switch the TV off since she would leave it running even though she’s not watching. That’s a great deal of energy being squandered. Therefore, if you are not watching the television, just turn it off.

These are just several simple things that can be done daily to help conserve energy and to help save the Earth by doing so. If everyone makes just a small effort to do these very simple things, it can add up to make a great difference.

You could be as worn out of the hoopla about non renewable energy sources material as we are. The key element to knowing the difference rests on ways to going green now which you could have heard. It really is up to you – and easy enough to find out.
