SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
Within the Construction Skills (CITB) Site Safety Plus range of courses is the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme, (SSSTS). This range of courses are regarded as being the highest standard of qualification in the construction industry and highly thought of.
The SSSTS training is geared towards site supervisors who are responsible for ensuring health and safety on site on a daily basis. The training aims to provide the effective skills and fundamental information necessary to carry out the supervisor role efficiently and see that candidates are compliant with up to date legislation. The qualification satisfy’s the specification detailed in the UKCG Supervisor Training Standard’.
This two day course provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities significant to their work activities. The necessity of promoting and encouraging health and safety at work in order to oversee effectively will be highlighted. SSSTS training is designed for individuals who are currently operating as a supervisor or will be taking on supervisory responsibilities within their role.
The training explores a broad number of health and safety aspects relating specifically to the site mangers role including: The supervisors role, Health & Safety Law & Enforcement, Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessment & Method Statements Principles of Prevention and Health & Safety Management
Course candidates will be observed and continually assessed during interactive sessions and and and will also be required to pass a multiple choice, written test. Despite certification being valid for five years, it is advised that refresher courses are attended within three years. This is due to the continued changes in technology, legislation and environmental management.
SSSTS should not be confused with the 5 day SMSTS course for site managers.
