MRE Menu Just Keeps On Growing

Those that are familiar with what is commonly referred to as survival food can attest to the improved taste and variety that has resulted over the years. Now, these packaged meals, which can be quickly heated at any place and any time, are more varied than most people can imagine.

One goal of the development of this type of food was to create a normal and palatable food that could be used during a crisis or emergency. But the main courses of today, for example, go way beyond the bland and basic. From raviolis to pot roast to grilled chicken breast and more, the choices abound. Having a good and interesting meal, even under the most difficult conditions, is more realistic than ever before.

And the variety does not end with entrees either. There are plenty of sides from which to choose. A wide selection of soups, rices, and potatoes can be added to any meal, for example. These are all packaged in the same way as the main courses, so that heating and eating is just as fast and easy.

In an effort to complete the traditional meal picture, one can count on a wide array of desserts too. From cinnamon buns to pound cake to fudge brownies, there are plenty of dessert choices to finish off any meal. Again, the variety helps bring a sense of normal to meals in even the toughest situations.

One can also count on a sampling of drinks in addition to all the food items. Vitamin C filled drink mixes are available in an abundance of flavors. Packages of powder can be instantly mixed with water to create lemonade, grape drink, fruit punch, and so much more.

The list of entrees, side, desserts and drinks is far more extensive than listed here. But this should at least illustrate that the MRE menu is indeed extensive. With the current array of choices, even the most difficult circumstances can be made a little more tolerable.
