How To Be Less Shy, Overcome Shyness In 3 Steps

Every person has a shy side. Each one of us yearns to be accepted in all aspects of life. Work and social events alike. No one wants to be laughed at or humiliated in front of others. This is especially true of strangers and people of the opposite sex.

Like everything, overcoming shyness can be conquered. Practicing meeting and dealing with people is key. Hiding from shyness will only mask the fear or make it worse. First step of course is admitting that you are shy and that you need and will gain many positive and self improving benefits by overcoming your shyness.

Remember the first restaurant you ate at?
You were nervous. The waiters, the attention and everyone looking at you. Then after many other dinners out, you got used to it. Things got better. This is what this small mini course will teach you. We’ll start small and work up from there.

I tell my students that one of the best ways to overcome shyness is to interact with people that are not out there to judge you. Forget about approaching someone you are romantically interested in. We’ll work up to that later. First start with people that you will never see again. You could start at the Mall. I know it sounds silly but it works. Guys you go to the sports store and girls you go to your favorite clothes store.

Here we go. Dress nice and get to the Mall or anywhere social. Look for opportunities to help people. Open doors for the elderly, help someone carry a package or pick up an item that was dropped. By doing this you are in a controllable and power position. People will smile and thank you for helping them.

Take this opportunity to talk with these people for they will judge you positively. A charity or soup kitchen is also a great venue to tackle your shyness. This pools confidence inside you and allows you to move to the next step. You will no longer be petrified talking to a stranger.

Second step. Go to your favorite store and find someone of opposite sex and same age. Ask them if they will help you find a gift for your Mom. This might be nerve racking but you can do it. These people are not out to judge your shyness.

Do this over and over and your nerves will finally melt away. Increase your conversations making them longer and longer. You will realize that approaching your age,and opposite sex isn’t so bad. You see these are controlled environments where you don’t have to worried about being laughed at or accepted.

Final mission. Try this when you’re ready. walk up to a total stranger and ask where you can find the best electronics. Don’t forget to make extra conversation and extra eye contact. You are not hitting on this person just asking for some help. How amazed are you at how friendly they are towards you? Think about this, you engaged a total stranger…Wow!

Give yourself a big round of applause for you just creamed you shyness
