Global obesity rates keep on increasing and show no signs of slowing down. And most people would prefer a quick fix to this problem in the form of a pill.

And bear in mind that taking supplements is not going to fix the problem.

So here are some reasons on why supplements can decrease your health:

1. It’s a very loosely regulated industry: Virtually any individual can start a line of supplements overnight. And the worst part is that no one will make sure the supplements are pure. So be very cautious when taking supplements you are unfamiliar with.

2. Too much vitamin D is not fashionable: Many consumers have hopped onto the vitamin D bandwagon. Unfortunately, having too much vitamin D is horrible for your health. You see, once you go past a certain amount your blood vessels can calcify.

3. The carrot vitamin is also damaging: Although you can’t overdose on vitamin A from carrots, you can overdose when you take it in pill form. And too much vitamin A can cause birth defects. So get your daily value from natural foods.

4. Calcium isn’t all good when taken in supplement form: In fact, some research is showing that taking calcium in high doses can actually increase your risk for getting a heart attack. Thus, you should really make an effort to get it from natural food.

5. Food isn’t lacking in nutrients: In fact, you can do just fine with food from your local grocery store. You don’t have to take supplements to compensate for the modest decrease in nutrients that food has undergone.

6. They can be very expensive: In some cases they can be prohibitively expensive. Now keep in mind that you will be far better off spending your money on food, not pills. After all, your body has evolved to digest whole food, not supplements.

Nine times out of ten you will be better off saving your money. You can use this saved money to buy higher quality natural food!
