Weight Loss – The Great, the Poor, and the Deadly!

If you’ve finally decided to reduce that additional weight you put on over the last year and you want to do it as fast as possible, then reading this may be the most important thing you do. It may even save your life from unnecessary pain and suffering.

Some nutritionists tells you to follow a strict diet regimen and minimize fat intake. Others swear the only way to reduce weight in the body is to do a reduced or no carbohydrate eating plans with generous amounts of protein and fat. And then there are those people who say eat anything you want, take this pill and look like a super model. Who should you believe these days?

One thing that should come to mind is that the weight loss industry is very large and it’s booming these days. Every year thousands of people spend millions of dollars in search of the magic solution to get rid of their love handles.

The advertisements are just about everywhere. They all have the same insinuating message which is to take this pill and wake up super skinny. The first thing you have to understand is there are no magic pills, potions, or lotions that safely melt away fat. Some are even deadly. Some common herbs were used in some dietary supplements marketed as weight loss aids or energy boosters. The herb has similar chemical properties to amphetamines and has been linked to side effects such as heart arrhythmia, psychotic reactions and seizures.

There have also been some reports of heart attack and stroke. Some herbs effect the vascular and nervous systems in the body, and one theory is that blood pressure spikes are one way the herb could promote hemorrhagic stroke. This particularly occurs when combined with caffeine, as is often the case in supplements.

According to findings published in the Journal of Neurology, repeated daily doses of more than thirty milligrams were linked to a three hundred percent increase in hemorrhagic stroke risk.

The bottom line is that proper diet and exercise are most important. There are no magic solutions to weight loss. If you figure out the diet and exercise program that is right for you, it can work like magic.

Most people fail at weight reduction because they are on the wrong program for them and they end up quitting. Everyone is individual. Some respond well to elevated carbohydrates and others lose pounds and function better eating almost no carbohydrates at all. But one thing remains universally constant is that you must exercise to lose weight and stay healthy.

Even little exercise such as walking 20 minutes two to three times a week can have a dramatic affect on your weight loss. Starting a weight training program is also encouraged because it will add lean muscle mass which helps with metabolism. Lean muscle mass will actually help you burn calories and lose weight.

An important note before you starts any new diet or exercise program is that you should consult with your doctor. Think about that more has been accomplished through motion than ever will get done through meditation. Stop thinking about it and just do it! If you need help we are only a phone call away.
