The first thing that you have to do is make sure that the individual is comfortable when he or she lies down. They need to be laying down on a surface that is firm yet soft. there’s no need for a table but try having them lie down on the bed. If they are on your floor, place a mat or a couple of soft blankets or towels so that they will feel more at ease. If the massage-ee wants to keep his or her shirt on, see to it that the shirt is made of a softer material to prevent accidental scratches and friction build up.
Start with a couple of standard rubbing. Use the entire flat side of both hands to rub from the base of the back toward the neck (do this gradually). Put some pressure into this rub but dont start with the full on massage yet. Begin at the base of the back and then slide your hands up the back then across the shoulders and then back down the back. Work on making the loops smaller as you do this step again so that the entire back can be loosened.
You can generate good and pointted pressure when you use the heels of your hands. Move the heels of your palms in little circles starting in the middle of the base of the back and then working out toward the sides, upwards and then back toward the spine until you’ve done this to the whole back.
Sit on one of the sides of the person you are massaging. Then, set one hand on top of the other and thrust into the back a little bit with your fingers. Get start at the backbone and thrust steadily and with good pressure across the back away from the spinal column and then gently sort of glide your hands back across the back toward the spine and move up. Repeat this step as you move upward along the back and then do the same things on the other side of the person’s back.
Rub the spinal column. Begin at the base of the back and work up each of the sausage-y muscles on each side of the spinal column with a couple of fingers or your thumbs. Massage each small node at least five times to generate some friction before moving on to the next. Work all the way up one side of the back and then work up the other side.
One of the things to bear in mind as you work through these massage techniques is that it is best to re-relax your person between each portion of the massage you’re giving. This means that after using one technique, perform the basic rub that you used at the beginning of the massage for a few minutes.
