Genital warts can affect men and women alike and is one of the many sexually transmitted diseases. People with active sex life who do not take precautionary measures can become infected during their lifetime. Even the use of condoms cannot guarantee that a person will not be infected by the disease causing HPV. Commonly caused by the human papilloma virus 6 and 11, the growth can start as early as three days from the date of infection to as long as three years. Although not all people may develop the unsightly genital warts, they still can get infected. In the US alone, there are about 20 million people who are carriers of the HPV.
