Natural Dermabrasion to Lighten Acne Scars Fast

While natural home dermabrasion treatments may not completely remove acne scars, they can lighten and fade them while giving your skin a great facial treatment as well. Professional microdermabrasion machines and other services like chemical and laser peels are the fastest and effective acne scar removal methods…..but they can be expensive too.

One of my favorite facials for smoother skin is microdermabrasion. This is performed using a machine that sort of sandblasts the upper layers of your skin. After several treatments, you’ll see a fresher newer complexion. Generally speaking, it takes about 6 or more of weekly treatments to see really good results. And, while there is no real downtime for healing, your face may be red or slightly swollen for a few hours after each treatment.

The cost for several microdermabrasion sessions can range from $1,000 to $1,500. The best candidates for this treatment are those with very light skin or very dark skin. For some reason, those in between do not have the best results since their skin sometimes ends up blotchy due to hyperpigmentation issues. However, your dermatologist or skin care professional can provide more information if this treatment is right for you.

If you are looking for a less expensive, natural but effective acne scar treatment try a two-step exfoliating system you can do at home. By utilizing two different exfoliating methods you can help to lighten the scar – as sometimes they are discolored – and reduce or polish away damaged skin cells too.

This is a two part facial…..the first involves a massage with a granulated scrubbing cream. The cream contains small abrasive particles to polish away dead damaged skin cells. When you apply a scrubbing cream – using your fingertips or a wash cloth – make sure to massage in circles moving from one spot to the other (avoiding the eye area). Then rinse very well. You won’t believe how smooth and polished your complexion will look.

The second step is to apply a fruit acid based serum that penetrates deeper into the dermis to “unglue” dead cells so they are easily removed. It also helps to lighten and blotches, discolorations, or red spots giving the skin a more even tone smoother look. Fruit acid based serums usually include glycolic acid and/or lactic acid. Again, this second step is wonderful for reducing the appearance of wrinkles too.

It has been suggested that the combination of these two methods is what really helps bring about the best results for the least amount time and cost. Even if you don’t have problems with scars, if you’re over 40 years of age, a weekly or monthly exfoliating facial can help keep your complexion smooth and blemish free.
