How Internet is changing Education

The internet has changed almost everything, particularly education. A recent survey revealed that of all college students signed up for classes, 1 in 4 had at least 1 web based course. E-learning, or online classes, is much better for the environment and the economy. Not only do students pay a smaller amount for their tuition, but they also save money on transportation costs and materials. Bill Gates said last year at a conference in Lake Tahoe, CA that in five years anyone will be able to find the best lectures worldwide on the web, thereby rendering colleges obsolete.

Bill Gates has even helped sponsor Khan Academy which offers “a free world-class education for anyone anywhere.” Khan Academy has over 2,100 video lessons that cover anything from topics like simple algerbra to amortization. Where there is a will to learn, there exists a way; Khan Academy is just that. Now the two most essential things to help someone obtain an education are internet access and the time to be able to allocate for watching videos and working. The internet is an excellent thing, for the reason that in can really help change people’s lives for the better although it has many bad parts, it can be an enormous positive impact on society. There is also federal funding programs available for students and minorities. As an illustration, they supply scholarships that help them pay for their educational requirements.

The internet gives anyone the opportunity of becoming anything they want, financial resources are becoming less important in comparison to online influence and skills. Before, you needed to travel long distances to have access to the world’s best books and professors but now they come to you. Because of this, many companies and organizations are pushing for computer and internet access to 3rd world countries. Soon enough, anyone may have the opportunity to get properly educated for pennies on the dollar. Back in history, only the wealthiest and most powerful families could actually educate their kids and help them to graduate at a university. A good deal has changed since then.

Tablets, much like the Internet, are transforming education and the way people are learning their material. The only thing each student needs to have a complete learning experience complete with videos and interactive games is a small gadget the size of a notebook. Rather than working with papers and broken pencils, students now have a chance to write, edit and send their projects all wirelessly. Education has changed more over the last couple years than it did over the whole 20th century. Unfortunately not enough individuals are using this. Many people have access to these tools but they are simply lazy or they don’t know about them.

The future of education is a bright one. It’s constantly evolving and becoming more accessible for everybody. Sadly, the opportunities that many people have in education aren’t being taken advantage of. Online classes are really the future of education, not just because they’re environmentally and economically friendly but also since they give their students flexibility.
