Baseball Hitting and Home Runs

If you are a baseball player, you probably have dreams of hitting great home runs, just like the pros. It’s true that home runs are exciting, especially for the player who hits one. But, that shouldn’t be the only important aspect of baseball hitting. In fact, home runs should really be an afterthought.

Instead of trying to hit a home run, players should just be focused on getting a good hit. Trying to hit the ball to the outfield is more important than trying to hit it over the fence. Consistently hitting balls into the outfield takes hard work and a lot of practice.

Players must know the fundamentals of baseball hitting to hit well. Keep your eye on the ball at all times and know the proper way to hold the bat and swing. Learn to recognize balls from strikes and only swing at the strikes. This knowledge and practice is sure to give you more hits into the outfield and possibly more home runs.

In time, home runs will happen. The better you get at hitting, the better your chances for a home run. But, this shouldn’t be your main focus each time you step up to the plate.

Your first home run is one you’ll never forget. I was a sophomore in high school when I hit my first and I remember everything about that night. From the second I made contact, I could tell something was different. I barely felt the contact but heard a loud crack as the ball whisked away from me high in the sky. It was very exciting and I was on cloud nine the rest of the night.

When you hit your first home run you’ll have the same feelings. But, there is a lot more to baseball than home runs. Just work on the basic baseball hitting fundamentals and strive to be a better player. As that happens, you are sure to hit some home runs.
