Ten Different Reasons To Pursue Chiropractic Treatment

A lot of different musculoskeletal issues are treated by chiropractic doctors. Most individuals do not understand the depth of these conditions, here are ten of them.

1) Headaches – There are a number of different headache types such as Migraines, Tension, Cluster headaches, and then those headaches referred from a neck pain issue. For example, a facet arthritis or whiplash problem may be a source of neck pain and maybe instability. Along with this the person may have persistent headaches. Headache treatment would then focus on reducing neck pain, which may then reduce headache pain too. Tension and cluster headaches may experience a lot of relief from a chiropractor.

2) Neck pain – One of the more common reasons for chiropractic treatment. Pain may be coming from a car wreck, arthritis, or a weekend warrior injury. Chiropractor treatment may consist of stretching, strenghtening, acupuncture, manipulations, massage, or electrotherapy.

3) Low Back Pain – Low Back Pain affects 90% of the US population at some point in life. It’s unbelievably common, and chiropractors offer excellent treatment options to helping patients get back to work quicker, playing with their children, and becoming more active.

4) Mid back pain – The first thing a chiropractor will need to accomplish is making sure the reason for the pain is in fact musculoskeletal. Pain emanating from an organ problem may radiate to the mid back region. Arthritis or a thoracic herniated disk or a rib issue may receive substantial pain relief from a chiropractor treatment. However, a gallbladder or vascular issue should be ruled out if suspicion exists as to its presence or the others are ruled out.

5) Shoulder Pain – Impingement syndrome affects millions of Americans yearly, and over 90% of those can avoid surgery with appropriate treatment. Chiropractic treatment may include manipulations, PT/Rehab, electrotherapy including a TENS unit, massage, laser, ice, or heat.

6) Fibromyalgia – It’s very difficult to manage this condition, as the presentation is so variable what works for one patient may not be effective for others. Some fibro patients tolerate spinal decompression, manipulations, or massage, while others cannot tolerate being touched much at all. So treatment needs to be individualized.

7) Failed back surgery syndrome – Back surgeries don’t always have great outcomes, or they may only get rid of half the desired pain. So what’s next? Well if another surgery is deemed not to be in the patient’s best interest, chiropractic treatment may assist tremendously with additional pain relief after a failed back surgery.

8) Knee pain – Prior to undergoing a knee operation, patients should try Rehab/PT and some chiropractic treatments, and maybe a pain injection.

9) Hip Pain – This pain may not be coming from the hip at all, it could be referred pain from a back problem like spinal stenosis. A chiropractor in conjunction with a pain doctor may be able to diagnose the pain generator and give successful treatment.

10) Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – One of the most common musculoskeletal diagnoses in existence, but it doesn’t always require surgery. Chiropractor treatment may allow patients to avoid surgery.
