Yeast Infection Causes – What Everybody Needs To Know

There is nothing funny about a yeast infection. If left untreated it can cause many other health concerns. The fact that a yeast infection can migrate to the brain is not common knowledge. When the yeast infection migrates to your brain, the normal functions of your brain will be disturbed. But, most infection conditions do not pose such a serious threat – we are not trying to scare you. You might head off to the pharmacy to get some over the counter meds to treat your yeast infection, but this is not always the best course of action. If you have a weakened immune system, it’s better to consult your doctor if you suspect a yeast infection. This can be from such causes as AIDS or a course of Chemotherapy.

Candida albicans is the name of the yeast that causes vaginitis. What many people may not realize is our bodies are hosts to all types of bacteria and even the Candida yeast cells if only in very minor quantities. Your immune system is tasked with the job of keeping the level of Candida albicans in control so an overgrowth situation doesn’t happen. Be that as it may, yeast infections have a habit of simply showing up one day and it’s hard to understand why. All you can do is treat it. It may seem as though your yeast infection has no apparent reason, but in reality there are many reasons why it just seemed to happen. So even though you can quickly treat the condition, just try to be aware of what could have caused it. At the very least, pay more attention to your daily habits.

Hormones do many things inside the body to keep it functioning, and when they are off, other things happen, such as the growth of yeast. Hormones levels go up and down, but what are the conditions that cause this to happen? Your menstrual blood is of a pH that will eradicate the yeast cells, though. Many women take birth control pills, and these pills cause hormone changes, which in turn cause yeast infections. Also, some steroids will cause infections in some women because the basis for steroids is hormonal.

A yeast over-growth situation can sometimes be caused by taking some type of steroid treatment.

Your immune system determines the level of Candida albicans yeast cells in your body. If you are healthy, the level will be under control. If you are someone who has a compromised immune system, such as those with AIDS/HIV or who are undertaking Chemotherapy, you are more at risk for developing yeast infections. It may be helpful for you to take note of your personal habits such as frequent loss of sleep and other situations that will serve to depress your immune system. Has your immune system been compromised due to illness or other reasons? Make a list of the common yeast infection symptoms so you will recognize one if it strikes. The good news is that you can easily get rid of a yeast infection and the treatment is not that hard. Sometimes you may have a situation where you have to take antibiotics. Ask your doctor if there is something you can do to lower your risk of getting a yeast infection while you take the antibiotics. Of course a healthy diet that contains all the normal components may be helpful with maintaining as much normal bacteria as possible.
