Why Start Paying the Federal Fee

Change, change, change is what the future is all about, however this can be quite a daunting task if you are in the health care field and don’t get a memo on every change that is being made on the health care reform and what/where you must comply to and how/when to new laws, so what is a person to do?

Big Government claims most health care reform acts wont fully go into effect until the year 2014, however business owners are advised to start planning now for changes to employee health care plans or to make the decision to opt out and pay the federal fee of $2,000.

Low-income individuals have Medicaid which by the year 2014 will have expanded coverage to include 133 percent of federal poverty level which is $29,327 for a family of four, and childless adults. The Federal Government says through this new plan that they will pay 100 percent of costs for covering newly eligible individuals through 2016.

Many will opt to not payout because of an expected number of lawsuits to be filed against these new enactments, however if you ignore the law you can see more $$ going out of your pocket and into the big pot of health care due to fines and or penalities.

Don’t forget to watch out for the new taxes because beginning in 2018, insurance companies will pay a 40 percent excise tax on so-called “Cadillac” high-end insurance plans worth over $27,500 for families ($10,200 for individuals). Dental and vision plans are exempt and will not be counted in the total cost of a family’s plan.

One of the largest cuts would halve spending on the Community Services Block Grant program and reduce by nearly half the funding to help low-income people heat their homes. In some instances, the cuts the administration is recommending for fiscal 2012 overlap with programs that the new House Republican majority has targeted for fiscal 2011 — the current year — although the GOP is proposing a wider range of reductions.

It seems a bit complicated to most Americans but there is hope, many health groups have health advocates to help educate and provide outreach services to you. There is no reason to let your health go down hill due to the complicated and small print of the new health care reform laws.

An extensive data base of over 6,000 public and privately-sponsored social programs in all 50 states allows SSC advocates in a single interview to determine what programs you may qualify for. From there, the appropriate applications are completed electronically for submission to the program sponsor. So unlike big government who is taking money away from health care, this program actually adds up to more savings for you!
