Ways To Lull Your Children To Sleep

Are you having a hard time getting your child to bed on time? It’s not an easy task, as any parent of a toddler will know all too well. It is exhausting work to do battle with a young child night after night after night.

Parents have to stand their ground when it comes to bedtime issues. If the parent gives in and starts engaging the child in debate then it is too late. The child has won. But if the parent stands fast and doesn’t budge, then the parent regains the upper hand.

Let your child know ahead of time when bedtime is coming. This gives them time to adjust to the thought. Tell your toddler about 15 minutes before hand that playtime will be over soon.

Follow up with five and two minute warnings as well if you feel they are necessary. Then when the time comes, send your child to bed. You should also probably give them the opportunity to get rid of the stalling tactics beforehand too. Let them go to the bathroom and get a drink of water.

Don’t give in if your child engages in the typical stalling or manipulation tactics. If he or she gets out of bed, just take them back. If they whine or argue, ignore it. Your child is looking for any out, and any engagement scores a win for them.
