Training Regimen for Special Operations Tactical Athletes

The average day of a special operations military member will start very early. The first meal will be nutrient dense and often is accompanied with a performance supplement to give the military member the energy to exert at a high level during physical training. The tactical athlete has an understanding of the importance of physical training to maintain an edge in combat. The average special operations service member will require twice the calories of a civilian and also put tremendous effort on anabolic development and muscular recovery.

Cardio work often starts first thing in the morning, this training will typically last 60 to 90 minutes. A tactical athlete will diversify the training to include running, swimming, biking and various other functional and useful aerobic activity. Muscular development is enhanced through powerlifting, kettle bell training and other anaerobic activity. 30 minutes before the start of physical training it is important for the military member to eat an adequate amount of calories to provide the fuel to complete the physical activity.

Tactical Training for the military member can include flat range shooting, known distance and unknown distance shooting as well as close quarters combat techniques and standard operating procedure development. Tactical training is of paramount import because it includes the weapons handling skills, marksmanship and playbook that the special operations soldier will use to be dominate on the battlefield. Tactical training can mean long days or even weeks practicing the art of war to help push to the absolute limit of human performance. In basic training the Soldier or Marine will get basic skills on what it means to be a service member as well as some basic military fitness and military tactics but these skills will be brought to an expert level in Special Operations training.

Nutrition also plays a vital role for the operator because for total performance optimization nutrition can be half the battle. Besides good food that is dense with nutrients often times it can help considerably to utilize supplements to maintaining that performance edge. Rigorous training can drain the body of important nutrients and a good supplement can help recover those lost and lead to better performance in the future. Soldiers and Marines overseas often take Branched chain Amino acids, protein supplements and vitamins stowed away in their tactical gear in case they are on mission longer than expected.

After a long day of military training and tactical performance the Special Operator can generally do a light workout to help warm down. This recovery style workout could be anything from a light swim or jog even active stretching can provide a benefit to the tactical athlete.
