Tips on Spending Less on Surfing All Day
Are you going on a trip to the beach soon? You are probably trying to find ways on how to save money with surfing. It’s not a cheap hobby, but if you plan your trip in advance, and stick to your budget, you will be able to save a lot of money regardless.
The cheapest spots to go surfing are most likely the ones closest to where you live. Lots of people want to go to Hawaii right away, but if you’re like the rest of us who can’t afford to go, try finding some places in your area where you can surf. Not only will you save money doing it, but you will probably feel more comfortable practicing around people you know.
Maybe you want to just get away for a while and leave your home town. If you go to a place that’s inhabited by a lot of surfers, you’ll probably be able to find a few camps set up specifically for people traveling. Before you go on your trip, however, be sure to pack the things you need in advance. Then, you won’t have to spend much money on personal items. Usually things like toothbrushes or toothpaste will be more expensive at travel spots versus at home.
If you do not own a tent and are not looking to buy one, you can sleep in your car. If you decide you want to stay in the city, perhaps you can look into staying at a cheaper motel, versus an expensive, upscale hotel.
If you don’t drive, or you just want to travel via another method besides car, take a look at cheap airlines on the internet that will allow you carry surfboards along with you. There are several airlines that will probably charge you a high fee for doing so, so try to find the ones that are more surfer friendly in that regard. Be patient and look for the best deals. Call ahead if you have to.
Those of you that don’t own a surfboard can rent one at your final destination. For those who don’t own a wet suit either, consider renting one of those as well. However, if you decide that you love going out on the waves, buying a board and a wet suit will probably be cheaper in the long run. You don’t have to spend a bundle though, look around at used board shops for a good deal, and try finding a wet suit online.
