Tanners’ Manners: Tanning Bed Etiquette

Tanning salons have their own rules and regulations, but when in doubt it is helpful to know a few general guidelines for etiquette in the salon. A common question involves what to wear. This is completely up to you. Since your time in the tanning bed is spent alone, you can wear a swim suit, shorts, underwear, or nothing. But, don’t forget, especially if you go the nothing route, to put some cover clothes on before exiting the room.

Like a scout, you should be prepared. That means being prepared for the session by applying lotion before entering the room, and not wearing excessive jewelry. Putting on lotion and taking off jewelry requires time. It’s not considered good form to use the precious time in the room doing these things.
