Suggestions on How To Stop Consuming Too Much Energy Each Day

America squanders more energy than any other country. Planet Earth is facing extremely serious issues like pollution and the loss of the ozone layer so it is imperative that we do our best to save energy and, in turn, save our planet.

In this article, we will address just a couple of things you can do to help conserve energy and also save a little money every day. These are really simple things that anyone can do, we simply need to make the choice to do them in order to help the Earth and ourselves.

Merely switching off the lights when you go out of a room in your home is one of the simplest things you can do to not waste power. A lot of people will leave lights on in a room when they think they are coming back, possibly in ten or fifteen minutes. If you do this even a couple of times every day, that is approximately 30 minutes of wasted electrical energy for just this one light. Even though 30 minutes doesn’t look like much, remember that millions upon millions of people do this each day. If you add it up, one individual could be consuming at least 182 hours of electrical power each year. Let’s suppose we waste approximately 182 hours of electricity each year and we multiply that by one million people. That is 182,000,000 hours of electricity being consumed a year on merely one light.

One other thing that is causing electricity to be wasted is the habit people have of going in a room and switching the lights on. It’s one thing many of us do out of habit. I find I am guilty of this quite a bit often. Nonetheless, there could be sufficient light, perhaps sunlight, coming into a room. And still, we walk into a brightly lit room and flip the light switch to on. And the bad part is since there is daylight, you may exit the room and leave the lights switched the whole day as since you don’t even know it’s on. You merely need to make the extra effort to not flip the lights on if there is enough natural light coming inside.

Another serious problem is people leaving things like TVs and radios turned on all day even if they are not in the same room. When I visit my mother, I have to remind her to turn the TV off since she would leave it running even though she’s not watching. This is a great waste of electrical power. Hence, if you’re not in the room, turn off the television.

These are simply a few things that we all can do so easily but can have a huge impact on our attempts to save power and to save our planet. It merely takes a little effort on your part to remember these things, and when each person makes a tiny effort, it can add up to make a massive difference.
