Similar but different, Wedding Trends

Tradition is always evolving, especially in the area of wedding design. Remember the days when the bridesmaids would brace themselves for the bride’s choice in dresses? If they unhappy about the colour, they were certainly disgruntled with the choice in style. It was usually something only the thinnest of them looked good in and the largest of them had to pick a slightly altered style that seemed to scream “I am too big for that other dress” So it’s a relief to many bridesmaids today that although a Bride may still choose a colour, often the dresses themselves are distinctly different in style.

A common point of argument between mothers and daughters can be on table decorations. Traditionally they matched exactly, but now there seems to be more freedom when it comes to adorning a reception table. Similar flowers and colours are used, but each arrangement can be distinctly or slightly different from the next.

Where tables used to always be set out in uniform, resembling a charity banquet, it’s now considered quite stylish to use various shapes and sizes of tables. This can solve one of the common dilemmas regarding seating arrangements.

Choosing table decorations and centrepieces is not always the most exciting part of designing a wedding. Often it’s hard to choose and you may be faced with several designs you like. Well, instead of choosing, you can now have one of each!

To add to the variety, it is also now very trendy to have different shaped tables for the reception, looking more like a designer fete and not a political fundraiser.

It’s also great for those involved in wedding planning who find it hard to agree. Allowing for variation means more choice for everyone. Your bridesmaids will not resent you for life, and your mother can admire the centrepiece on her table.
