Protein Power

There’s no question that our bodies require certain nourishment. Without the right vitamins and minerals, they will begin to deteriorate. Think about this before you consume your next meal. Try and make it a healthy one. Now, one of the more common supplements talked about today is protein. People around the world are crazed for that protein power. This is only natural if you ask me. Protein, after all, is what repairs and builds our muscles. It’s crucial to the human body like no other substance. Okay, I’m not counting water.

Why the protein craze? Well, I think a great deal of this is due to America’s weight issue. The average American is overweight, and the smart ones are searching for ways to remedy this situation. Maybe a healthy fitness regime and a protein power diet are required. This mainly depends on what you’re trying to do. Personally, I believe the popularity of protein is a bit over-done. Sure, we all need protein to live and be healthy. I think the average is 50 grams of it per day. You probably get this in your three meals. Meats and dairy products such and cheese, milk and eggs are loaded with protein. If you want to stay healthy, I suggest you lean toward the leaner meats such as fish and poultry. You might even want to go with the fat free milk and low-fat cheese. This will definitely aid you in the weigh loss process. So what about the weight loss issue? Well, consuming tons of protein power supplements is not going to make you drop the pounds. That’s not the way it works. The main reason people now go gaga over protein is because it’s a key building block in your body, whereas carbs are known for leading to weight gain. Makes sense. However, too much of anything is bad. If you consume massive doses of protein power supplements or meats every day, you’re bound to gain weight also. Much depends on your workout regimen. If you’re a skinny person trying to pack on mass, then go all out with the protein power diet, but if you’re trying to shed excess fat, I’d stick with a low calorie, well-balanced diet broke down into four or five small meals each day. Keep the metabolism going, and burn the calories you take in.

When it comes to protein power diets, they’re mainly for folks trying to gain mass, or athletes who require more muscle repair. Be sure you know and understand your fitness goals before starting a new diet regimen.
