Personal Training Mosman: How to Choose From Group Training, Boot Camps, Personal Training Or Gym Membership?

The use of a personal trainer for a daily exercise routine has increasingly gained popularity. However, when a trainer is unavailable, the absence is felt as an instructor not only corrects, but acts as a motivator. To overcome this shortcoming, the answer could lie in joining a group training exercise. Employing a personal trainer can sometimes prove to be prohibitively expensive, and in many cases unaffordable. As a result, many use this as an excuse to avoid doing any regular exercise. One should remember the old adage that “health is wealth”. Fitness is a sure way to ensure better health, of not just the body but also the mind. Ideally one should try to find a group which closely fits the exercise routine one follows.

Group Training and Classes – Group training can be a great way to get fit. There are a range of options with funky names to choose from including jazzercise, pump, ‘abs, butts and thighs,’ fitness boxing and mums and bubs classes. The positives of group training include that you can do it with a friend, it is cheaper and there’s a range of classes to choose from. It is normally a lot of fun with loud music and a positive atmosphere. However, you don’t get a training program tailored for you and you inevitably end up doing exactly what everyone else in the class is doing. You don’t get extra attention from the instructor and you don’t learn about health and fitness (apart from a few cool moves). Choose group training if you want to improve your general fitness, have fun with friends and are on a budget. If you want a more personalised service, get bored of repetitive movements or don’t like the group atmosphere then look elsewhere. Prices vary from $10-$30/class. Boot Camps – These sure have boomed in popularity in recent times. To be completely honest, their rise is due to those in the fitness industry realising how profitable they are. There are lots of paying clients, they can charge higher rates and there’s no excuse for people not turning up (“A little rain never hurt anyone now get down and give me twenty!”)

I need not mention the fun, frolic and laughter that happens when close buddies come together. Imagine yourself having this time to experience and share happiness everyday and at the same time train your body to lose the extra fat and flab. Isn’t that great? Most of us tend to backslide after joining an exercise class or gym as it is boring and some days you just do not feel so. But when it is a small group of people you love and cherish, then the very thought of spending time with them will make you want to exercise. This is a great motivation in itself if you have wanted to lose weight and get in shape but was finding it difficult to concentrate.

I know the feeling of loneliness that can waft upon you when caught in a class of fifty odd people training or the coldness of the swanky new gym where you are a total stranger among a sea of people. All the high tech equipment cannot make you lose weight or be fit if you are doing the wrong exercise; instead you can end up harming your body. In a group personal training, the trainer becomes a close confidante who has all the time to focus his personal attention on each one of you. This helps him to understand your body type and the lifestyle you lead so that he can teach you exercises or train you keeping all this in mind which become much more effective.

So go with the gym membership if you know exactly what you’re doing. If you need guidance and motivation then group training, boot camps or personal training would be a better option. Pick what suits you best. You may have to use trial and error before you find what is most effective, and most enjoyable, for you. But it is worth it in the end because feeling fit, being healthy and looking great is invaluable.
