Ozone Air Purifiers – Damaging to Your Health

Ozone air purifiers have been the cause of much recent controversy. Put forth by many manufacturers as a safe and effective way to remove odors from your home, many brands, including Prozone air purifiers, have come under fire from other authorities on indoor air cleaners, who claim that ozone is unsafe. And, unfortunately for the manufacturers of these ozone air purifiers, it would seem that the evidence piling up against them is rather weighty.

Undoubtedly, there will be ignorant people who will cry out that palm oil is an unhealthy saturated fat. Like coconut oil, palm oil has been mislabeled as unhealthy for far too long, when it is actually is a very healthy saturated fat. Both oils have been staples in the diets of tropical people for thousands of years, and have helped people stay lean and healthy for centuries.

Like coconut oil, palm oil is great for baking and frying, and is very stable and solid at room temperature, so it does not require hydrogenation and contains no trans fatty acids. (Trans fat is the bad stuff that you want to avoid like the plague!) According to authors and researchers Sally Fallon and Mary G. Enig, PhD, of the Weston A. Price Foundation, “palm oil is a stable, healthy, natural fat composed of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids.” (https://www.westonaprice.org)

The ozone used in ozone air purifiers is a highly unstable molecule, unlike oxygen, and has a tendency to bond with other substances. This is how indoor air cleaners containing ozone work: the ozone molecule bonds with those nasty odors, eliminating their pungent effects. But the instability of the molecule means that it is indiscriminate with what it bonds, meaning that once let lose in the human lungs, it can cause a lot of damage.

Last September, the FDA warned women regarding the risk of blood clots in the legs and lungs and their use of birth control patches. As a result of the warning, the product label was updated to reflect the data of one study that found women using the patch faced twice the risk of clots than did women on the pill. From this information, women should be careful in choosing their form of birth control. It is advisable for them to go and visit their gynecologist or physician, and try to gather facts about their health history, and choose the best birth control that will suit both their health and lifestyle.
