In our house, everybody is busy doing their role in cleaning the space. . After she breathed her last breath, we gained possession over this place.This home has a sentimental value to us. This is where all of us came to celebrate special events – weddings, new beginnings, wedding anniversaries and a lot of blissful family gatherings. All of us saw the underground room needed numerous changes so we proceeded to cleaning it first. My mom had hidden dad’s old World War II marine regimentals in the underground room too.

In the nook of the room below, kept among all the fishing rods, lures and tackle, there was an antique cane. The cane is derived from wood however I don’t know of what make. My mom’s brother notified me that it used by my great grandfather’s and that my uncle never witnessed my great grandfather without it. Buried from the back of my brain, my memory of my great grandfather was when he sat on the porch out front of the house. He placed his cane beside the chair.

Canes were ‘worn’ by recognized people and some of them were US President George Washington, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of UK, and Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw, two famous playwrights both from Dublin, Ireland.

As the world has transformed, adorned walking sticks are now suitable for the displays of private collectors and enthusiasts. Today’s function is preferably for extra assistance in our elder years or as a way of support following an injury.
