Men’s Health – What You Need To Know About Prostate Enlargement Symptoms

When a man experiences symptoms of enlarged prostate, he tends to keep it to himself. Why? This is because this issue is concerned with their reproductive health. They just wait until their problem is severe enough and have certain complications before going for a check-up. This practice must be changed. Prostate enlargement is not any sexual issue but a concern regarding the health of an individual. Let’s discuss prostate problems and their management in this article.

Prostate problems are top mature-aged men’s problems worldwide. It could start as early as 30s and could get worst or could turn into prostate cancer in their 60s. Symptoms are just mild at first but when they start to hinder your daily activities you will think that you should have prevented it from the first place or have sought an early treatment.

Symptoms of enlarged prostate contain difficulty beginning and dribbling of the urine stream, discomfort whilst urinating, blood in the urine, and frequent urge in voiding especially at bed time. Other symptoms consist of fever, flu-like symptoms, body fatigue, body malaise and urinary tract infections. UTI typically accompany this condition due to the compression and narrowing of the urethra when the prostate enlarges.

Treatment for enlarged prostate includes both the over-the-counter and prescribed drugs like anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDS, pain relievers, analgesics and antibiotics. As you can see these drugs are only for the symptoms and not for reversing the condition. You cannot use anti-inflammatory drugs for a longer period if you really want to shrink your prostate. It might give you bad effects on your health.

Some doctors recommend their patients to have daily catheters to ease their voiding process. In some cases, a surgical procedure is performed to remove the build up in the prostate which causes its enlargement. This procedure is called ‘transurethral resection of the prostate’ (TURP). TURP is often a success and could reverse the condition but won’t guarantee its future reoccurrence.
