Information on Curing Acne: The Various Kinds of Acne

Curing acne is one of the major concerns that many people have. It is so widespread that it almost covers all nationalities, all skin color, all gender, and could occur at any age. That is why many resources are available on the Internet all talking about acne, how to prevent it, available cures, and the like. They come in various forms and some are free, some are not including blogs that you can subscribe to, acne eBooks that you can download, exclusive videos, and many more.

Countless teenagers and other individuals have been battling with acne since time immemorial. Many would resort to various acne diets as well as other known treatments, hoping that it will provide a permanent cure. Yes, for others it works. But for the rest, for some reason, it does not work at all.

Acne occur when pores or follicles on the skin gets clogged by the overproduction of skin cells or dirt that blocks sebum from draining into the skin surface, thus allowing bacterial growth and eventually contributes to inflammation or formation of comedones. But did you know that there are different types of acne?

Acne Vulgaris, the most common type of acne has various forms that can range from mild, moderate, and severe. The mild to moderate forms of acne Vulgaris includes whiteheads, blackheads, papules, and pustules. The severe ones are classified further into nodules or cysts.

Another type is Acne Rosacea that looks similar to acne Vulgaris. It is characterized by red rashes and is typically confined to the nose, cheek, chin, and forehead area and usually comes with skin blemishes, pimples, and bumps. It can lead to swelling of the nose and eventually to the growth of excess tissue called Rhinophyma, if left untreated. It can be found rarely in men but usually severe and is very common among women of 30 years and over.

Other rare but severe forms of acne can impose significant physical, mental, and emotional hardships to those who are affected by it. This includes Acne Conglobata that can cause deep scarring and irreversible skin damage, Acne Fulminans that typically affects Caucasian men and can cause scarring as well, Gram-Negative Folliculitis- a bacterial infection that may be a complication due to prolonged antibiotic treatments of acne Vulgaris and is characterized by cysts and pustules, as well as Pyoderma Faciale also known as Rosacea Fulminans that affects only the female gender typically between 20 to 40 years of age.
