How To Increase Carbohydrate Absorption After Training

Optimizing carbohydrate absorption post-training is necessary so that you can burn more calories the next time you exercise.

Unfortunately, many fitness hopefuls do not know how to do this.

Thus, here is how to optimize carbohydrate absorption post-training:

1. Have some liquid carbs before training: Many experts recommend maltodextrin. However, dextrose, also called glucose, is better because it won’t clump up and your body absorbs it much better. So have about twenty to thirty grams before beginning exercise.

2. Deplete your glycogen stores while training: The best way to make your muscles absorb more carbohydrates is by depleting their glycogen stores when you are exercising. This in turn will get your cells to absorb more.

3. Have some caffeine before beginning to exercise: Caffeine will make it easier for you to go the distance and push your body to where it needs to go. And you have to push yourself here or your carbohydrate stores will not deplete.

4. Have a liquid shake: Having a liquid shake after your workout is a great way to enhance absorption here. You see, liquid nutrition will get carbs to your muscles very quickly which is necessary so that you can exercise at the highest levels possible.

5. Have a solid meal shortly after your liquid meal: This will help get a more controlled amount of nutrients into your muscles once your body has digested the liquid meal, and this happens quickly. So don’t let more than thirty minutes go by.

6. Make sure all your other meals are balanced: This will ensure that you don’t overload your body with too many nutrients at once. You see, a couple hours after your workout, your body no longer has the ability to absorb super high amounts of nutrients.

Getting more carbohydrates into your muscles after training is a great way to accelerate your progress and caloric burn!
