How to do a smokey eye

Smokey eye has been a trend of makeup for quite some time, but it is still in fashion. The magic of smokey eyes is the power to transform you immediately from whatever into stylish and mysterious. Many people are not conformable with the smokey eye look for themselves as they do not know how to apply such makeup properly. Once you have put it on, you are going to love it more and more.

One of the keys for glamorous smokey eye makeup is what everybody says – “to blend it well”. Other than the blend well saying, the other one is to carefully choose your eye shadow. Depends on how matte your want for the whole look, you can choose between the shimmer and matte eye shadow.

Basically, you need three colors of eye shadow to have smokey eyes. The three colors can be named as highlight, mid-tone and contour. Highlight as it means is for highlight purpose therefore you can choose a shimmer one. The mid-tone should be matte one as this is the soul for your smokey eyes. Choose a color two darker than you skin tone. The final contour color is up to you to choose a matte one or shimmer one.

One thing to note is, before you have actually applied your eye shadow, you should have done all the foundation work. By that I mean, the cleaning, applying base, foundation and concealer. After that, you can start to draw the upper and lower eye lines and smudge.

Apply the highlight color first for the whole upper lid from eyebrow bone to the duct of eye. Then apply the mid-tone shadow from lash line to crease. Blend and smudge at the line where the two colors meet. Finally apply the contour color from the lash line up to the crease, blend well with the mid-tone. Use the same contour color to smudge onto the lower lash line.

To have a really smokey eyes look, eye shadow does 85% of the job. And the remaining relies a lot on mascara. Remember to apply the black and volume-enhancing mascara to match the whole tone.

Final tips for smokey eye look is to use some other colors like dark green, dark blue and brown instead of just black and grey. These dark colors give good effect also and they keep your look fresh in front of people. You can try the dark colors that match with your skin tone, hair colors and eye colors. For example, dark blue can have very good effect for blue eye ladies.
