How To Be Quick At Coming Up With Healthy Vegan Recipes

I love to make healthy vegan recipes, but I can not say that I had this particular ardent interest in nutrition, health or cooking while growing up. In fact, my mother would find it really funny when she sees me eating all the healthy foods now – I was quite a picky eater while growing up.

Despite my protests, she did manage to set a solid foundation for me, and I have her to thank for a lot of my inner nutritional wisdom. I remember asking her one afternoon if I could have a banana as a snack, and being ecstatic when she agreed. Although growing up I was never fully vegan, my mom was always making healthy recipes for dinner, and showed me the basics of healthy vegan recipes.

I can say that I have never been one to really enjoy eating at restaurants. I have always preferred to make healthy simple meals at home, so that I know how my food was prepared and also what went into it. The more I learn about the way foods are prepared even before they get to the store, the more I want to create healthy vegan meals at home!

Phil and I have swapped as the head cook a few times in our kitchen, but it was after we removed dairy, eggs, processed foods and meat from our diet that I truly found the inspiration. The helplessness to count on those dominant flavors caused me to uncover the influence of simplicity and deliver the flavors of whole, natural foods. After not eating a 100% raw diet any longer, the ingenuity needed for making raw vegan recipes has cleared my way to a new era of possibilities in the kitchen.

Learning more about cooking led me naturally to start learning about nutrition and how to make healthy vegan recipes that are not only incredibly delicious, but go a step beyond to bring back the simple truth that the food we eat is meant to nourish our bodies and create the energy we carry through life.

Phil and I have individually explored a lot of various approaches to nutrition – vegetarian and vegan diets, western scientific nutrition, ayurvedic approaches, detoxification and raw food programs, gluten free recipes, and Chinese traditional practices, which is based on thousands of years of cultural learning.

Many of the most affluent cultures around the globe are based on their cuisine – Indian, Chinese, Italian, and French. There is also an increasing awareness that there is more to food that its appearance. Cultural and scientific knowledge has both played a significant role in nutrition, and each of the various approaches and cultures have significant practices to be taken into consideration.

I believe that the key is to start listening to your own body. While I definitely think there are certain basic truths about nutrition and cooking, my overall philosophy is that there is no one absolute truth for everyone. It takes experimentation with your body and an awareness of your health to create a balance, which requires continual adjustments as you move through your life.

My goal is to give you a new perspective, and help you find that awareness to reconnect with the energy of food – all while having a lot of fun in the kitchen making easy and delicious vegan recipes.
