Having a Stress-free Holiday Season

Amongst all the special occasions in a year, perhaps the Holiday season proved to be the most stressful and this is something that a person should enjoy. However, there are some ways to limit stress and instead, enjoy the season to its full extent.

First of all, it is important to ask your loved ones about how they want to celebrate the Holiday season.

By asking this question, we begin to realize the things that should be celebrated during important occasions. Furthermore, we can avoid doing those activities that are not really that significant to your family if we talk this over to them. By failing to ask them this question, we resort to futile efforts.

After asking that question, you can now assess your schedule and determine if you have sufficient time to do all those things without being dominated by stressful factors. You can write down the activities you need to do on the calendar to apply proper time management. These activities include shopping, decorating, cooking and gift wrapping.

Be willing to compromise. For example if you have your heart set on decorating your house like Clark Griswald in “Christmas Vacation,” but time is of the essence, consider something simpler or eliminate something else.

Being a perfectionist should also be eschewed. If you can’t find what you are looking for in a grocery store, assess if what you already have would be sufficient for your celebration. If it is enough, don’t waste your time going to another place. This can consume a lot of money and time.

Finally, to turn holiday hassles into happiness you can do some very practical things like: set a budget and stick to it, pay in cash and avoid the New Years credit card blues and choose recipes you can prepare ahead of time. However, if you really want to make holiday memories this year, focus on relationships rather than activities. Consider giving the gifts of kindness and service. And keep your mind on the Reason for the Season…celebrate Jesus Christ, the greatest gift of all!

Tired from the whole day’s stress? Nothing beats the comfort provided by a warm bath, good sleep, delicious food or personal massager like hand held massager.
