Great Crock Pot Meals

Cooking in a crock pot is one way to make family meals easier. With a little ingenuity and creativity you can prepare meals that will save you time as well as offer nutritious value. Just plug it in when you leave for work and it’s ready by the time you are home.

The American pot roast is a popular crock pot meal. Take a roast, either pork or beef, add some potatoes, carrots and onions and when slow cooked you have a well-balanced meal. Peel and wash the vegetables and put them in the bottom of the crock pot and place the meat on top. Add water and seasoning and set it to cook on low. Dinner is served when you get home.

For some varieties this is a tender and delicious dish, especially when you pour a can of cream of mushroom soup on top, which turns into gravy. Leftovers can be used to make stroganoff by adding noodles or hot roast beef sandwiches.

Fajitas are another meal easily made using a crock pot. Prepare chicken, shrimp or steak with quartered fresh tomatoes, onions and peppers. Toss it all in the pot and add some taco seasoning. Serve with tortillas or nachos and cheese when you arrive home.

This meal is great for leftovers; especially when served over rice or in a salad.

Crock pot cooking is the best way to cook beans and ham hocks. You could even do an entire boneless ham. To make a well-balanced meal, add potatoes and carrots. Then serve with cornbread or corn muffins.

You can easily make chilli in a crock pot by simply adding some browned meat along with onions, peppers, tomatoes, kidney and pinto beans. Top it off with chilli seasoning and come home to a mouth watering aroma wafting out of the kitchen.

Crock pot cooking is an easy way of preparing healthy and delicious meals for the family. Just put the vegetables and meat inside the pot; plug it in, and then leave it. When its time to eat, the meals are all ready to be served.
