Got Apps? Smartphones Need the Best Fitness Apps

It’s taken some time, but I’ve recently gotten my hands on a brand new iPhone 4. This thing is absolutely incredible and I bow down to the people at Apple for creating such a beauty.

But there’s more to this baby than just it’s appealing looks. With the aid of my new smartphone, I’m able to do things that I never thought I could. For instance, I can now deposit checks into my bank account from anywhere; I can share photos in an instant; I can even use the built-in GPS to figure out exactly where I’m going. And all of this can be done at the press of a button or two.

The question now becomes how do we take advantage of such powerful technology.

My answer lies with the concept of applications. Mobile apps are what make everything easier. Business apps, fitness apps, banking apps, music apps, photography apps – the list is endless. With so many creative and brilliant developers out there, we have the ability to do things that were once thought impossible. And the best part is that there is no limit to where it can all go – things can just get better.

My three favorite applications are as follows:

The first is a music app called Shazam. This incredible little app allows me to find out exactly what song is playing at any moment. Let’s say I hear a song on the radio and I really like it. With the touch of a button I am presented with the title, artist and the option to buy it. Brilliant!

My second favorite application is a health and fitness app called Run Keeper Pro. By far one of the best fitness apps on the market, it helps me keep tabs on all of my runs. With the Run Keeper Pro I can track my running duration and pace, the distance covered and even the calories burned.

The third app that I love and use extensively is Toon Paint. This is a fabulous photography app that allows me to add cool effects to my pictures and share them on the spot!

Are you stuck searching through the app market for great health and fitness apps? I think we all are at some point. There are literally thousands of hidden ones out there and I’d like to help you find them. Here are some of the best fitness apps you can get for free.
