Electric Mobility Scooter Investigation

In every town a city you will see dozens of elderly and disabled people riding on a variety of electric Mobility Scooters that ferry them from A to B.

Its as fast as someone walking at a brisk step round about 5 miles an hour but the range is quite something at 30 to 40 miles on one top up. There’s really no way to predict how far your machine will go.

Its not funny getting stuck a long way from home and then have to walk back pushing the scooter in front of you. So take a friend with you just in case.

The Mobility Scooter has very low maintenance. The tyres need checking as well as the battery wants to be plugged in each night. Its doesn’t take rocket science to pump up a tyre in a petrol station, just ask some one if your not sure.

There’s not much to figure out if anything goes wrong as every scooter come with an easy to read manual which gives you instructions on how to do different things to your machine.

Disability wont stop me getting to the shops and doing my weekly shopping and stuffing it in the huge bag at the back of the mobilities seat.

Its too dangerous to venture out in snow but the rest of the weather is fine. When it rains you can unpack your poncho (a kind of cape) and keep you and the scooter dry.

Poncho type capes aren’t that expensive and are an absolute godsend when it starts raining. Box type mobility scooters (my name for them) are things you can climb into and close the door protecting you from heavy weather.

Keeping the Scooter under a sheet to keep it from getting dirty is a good idea. Keeping your scooter dry and clean is quite easy if you have a plastic shed which was designed especially for the Scooter.

Delivery is free to your door and so is insurance in most cases. your scooter is designed to run on the pavement so the council won’t charge you any tax. Of course at some point on your journey you will have to cross the road but this is OK.
