Eco-friendly water bottles and jumbo shrimp – What’s the only thing they have in common?

They’re both oxymorons. A jumbo shrimp isn’t large and an environmentall-friendly bottle or jug isn’t very good for the earth. Don’t buy into the marketing build up. An eco-friendly bottle isn’t more eco-friendly than a standard classic plastic-type material bottle.

With all of the adverse articles and posts with regards to bottled water, do we need to remind you once again why bottled water is harmful? Bear in mind that regardless of whether it’s called an “eco-friendly” bottle or an unfriendly bottle, it’s still a bottle, which means it’s still a stress on the ecosystem and a misuse of resources. not to mention an overall health threat.

Want particulars? Let’s count the top 7 arguments why plastic bottles, of any shape, size and formula are harmful for the environment and unsafe to you.

Bottled water squanders:

7. Energy –
Bottled water eats a substantial volume of energy. How do you suppose these 5-gallon plastic jugs get developed, moved and stored?

6. Water –
Bottled water uses, routinely, a gallon of water in order to produce a gallon of bottled water.

5. Oil –
1,500,000 barrels of oil are put to use yearly to construct plastic bottles. That’s a significant amount of oil.

4. Fuel –
Fuel is used to haul these water bottles all around to regional companies. There’s no real reason to carry water all around on vehicles.

Bottled water brings about:

3. Greenhouse gases –
Transporting water bottles around is a serious origin of greenhouse gas wastes. What are greenhouse gases? These gases, for instance methane, nitrous oxide or various fluorinated gases retain heat in the environment and lead to global warming.

2. Trash –
Regardless of all of the marketing surrounding recycling, 80% of plastic water jugs still end up in our landfills. When you include industrial waste from bottle production and the product packaging required to drive bottles around, loads of landfill waste are produced. Don’t think this percentage will improve because the press release states that the bottles are “a less difficult plastic to recycle.”

1. Health Threats –
And if all the environmental concerns weren’t enough, include the health concerns that come alongside with bottled water. One of many big health concerns surrounds BPA, more commonly known as Bisphenol-A. BPA is a key ingredient in those hefty, hard 5-gallon water jugs you notice in office buildings across the country. Several scientific studies carried out link BPA to health hazards, for example cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more. Why is BPA so dangerous? Because BPA has been exhibited to lrelease from bottles into the water you ingest, particularly when hot (a delivery truck, many storage locations). Even Dr. Oz, after testing, believes that that bottled water will cause cancer and may well in fact be straight tap water.

We could go on, but you get the idea. Water delivery is not eco-friendly or consumer-friendly. Instead, choose POU (point-of-use) water dispensers. Choose wisely – your health depends on it.
