Does The Thing Use Moisturizer? Skincare for Fictional Characters

As an enthusiastic comic book reader, I often wonder what personal issues a particular super hero might have to deal with on a regular day to day basis. For instance I wonder what skincare characters like Thing or The Lizard may consider using. Does a man made of rock or a giant threatening lizard man need moisturizer to keep their skin healthy and smooth? Why wouldn’t Thing consider proper skincare? I mean even if he is a rock man he still needs to take care of himself. What if The Lizard contracted melanoma only because he refused to apply moisturizer on a daily basis? Questions like these actually keep me up at night. My therapist questions my sanity while I question the health of fictional comic characters.

Skincare is no hoax though. My grandfather gets parts of his nose removed almost every year because he doesn’t apply moisturizer regularly. I associate my grandfather to Thing because both have a tendency to bite their nose off to spite their face. While my grandfather is losing his snout Thing does not have a nose. Did Thing lose his nose because of space radiation or was it from solar rays? Skincare either way is an important need of health.

Melanoma is cancerous and could cause harm or even lead to death. Using moisturizer alone will not prevent the cause of skin cancer but proper skincare can. Using a moisturizer with a superior SPF will prevent cases of melanoma or any other types of skin cancer caused by the sun’s harmful rays. While some super heroes like Bird Man and Superman rely on the rays of the sun to provide them power, the sun’s rays can have an inverse effect on us regular people. If you don’t receive special powers in exchange for excessive coverage don’t chance it.

Itchy dry skin or irritation can occur at any time. During the winter months, dry skin can crack and become infected or callous. Mr. Freeze must stay in sub zero temperatures at all times to last since his body was genetically altered to remain frozen. Mr. Freeze’s skin must get cracked and dry all the time staying in such a frosty state so his skincare is crucial in preventing poor skin. Applying moisturizer to his hands, feet and body can keep Mr. Freeze from feeling the effects of the cold weather all year round and provide a healthy looking skin tone.

Skincare can be important if a rash breaks out. Kids like to play outside in the woods but the possibility of contracting poison oak is drastically high. Poison Ivy doesn’t need to fret about ever getting a rash from her plants. Anyone that might cross Poison Ivy’s path could be infected with that itchy rash. Using an aloe or Calamine lotion with moisturizer will avoid scarring and soothe skin whenever a rash ever jeopardizes your skincare. Lucky for the fictional character world, skincare is not a necessity. If comic book characters had to moisturize or stay updated in skincare products I think their adventures would be less exciting.
