Dental Methods for Cracked Teeth

Often characterized as the third group of molars, one’s wisdom teeth are the final set that you will have when you are between the age bracket of 17 to 25 years old. For a few decades, there were many arguments as to whether these teeth should be extracted or not. If your wisdom teeth don’t hinder you from doing anything, then you can leave them as they are. However if you are experiencing the opposite, then they must be extracted.

In some instances one’s wisdom teeth can be impacted. If this happens to you, then you must get rid of them. You can pull them on your own but going to a dentist would be the wisest choice. Your oral doctor is the only individual who is capable of telling you the right things to do with your dental problem and he/she can get your wisdom teeth safely.

During the consultation, you’ll take a few x-rays that will let the surgeon know how bad your wisdom teeth are. He will go over the results with you, take a look in your mouth, then tell you what options you have. If he is going to pull or cut out your teeth, you’ll have the option of using local anaesthesia or going with an IV sedation. An IV sedation is the preferred way to have wisdom teeth extracted, as you’ll be so relaxed you won’t know what is going on. If you decide to just use local anaesthesia, which is numbing, you’ll be fully aware of the procedure. You’ll also hear the popping and cracking involved, which can make you feel quite uncomfortable.

The difficulty level of this procedure would all depend on three factors: the size of your teeth, its formation and shape. Getting your teeth won’t be that easy if it already has the tips of the root surrounding it and there’s a possibility that the process can bring you pain. A swelling can also occur when the removal is finished. You will receive some medicinal tablets from your oral surgeon which needs to be taken when you reach the comforts of your home. However if you have undergone the IV sedation, you are recommended to have a friend drive your car and take you home since you won’t be in full command with your body after the said process.

After everything is done, your oral doctor would be the one in charge of your fast dental recovery. It is expected that you go back to his/her clinic after the procedure to ensure that you recovered from the extraction in no time. You must also have someone to watch over you for at least one day. Food items which have hard coatings are a big NO for you for a minimum of two days. This is a standard precautionary measure so you should abide to it. Your dental health is guaranteed to greatly improve after the extraction of your wisdom teeth.
