Dealing with Physical Stress

One can choose to believe or not believe that experiencing anxiety physically is, for the most part, materialization of stress emotionally or physically. Physical stress is an affliction that everyone suffers from at least once. It can appear for a wide variety of reasons. Your physical stress is as likely to be caused by a major illness or injury (or the recovery) as it is to be a physical manifestation of mental and emotional stress that you might not even know that you are feeling. Psychological and emotional stress, whose presence you might not even be aware of, can result in physical stress as well as a major illness or injury and the subsequent recovery.

Ease your muscles. There is a technique called Progressive Muscular Relaxation (PMR) that you can use to relax your body when everything feels tense and achy. You contract a set of muscles until they are as tight as possible.

Hold your muscles in that position for around three seconds or so. Next, loosen them up until you are totally relaxed. Your muscular system will feel a lot better and your brain will get the message that you are in control. Have a break every day to chill. One does not have to have much time to accomplish the aforementioned. Even taking five or ten minutes just for yourself can do quite a bit to help you counteract the effects of physical stress. This time can be accomplished by taking a couple of minutes to sit down by yourself. What is important is that you allow yourself some time each and every day to put your worries and responsibilities aside. You could also benefit by taking longer moments for yourself. A loved book or music could be enjoyed for thirty minutes. Depart on a jog. Accomplish what is a necessity to feel as though you are tending to yourself first.

There are things you just cannot change and you have to accept the fact, no matter how clichd it sounds. In fact, learning to accept the things you cannot change as they are is also very important. Trying to change something that doesn’t want to be changed or can’t be changed is a recipe for stress. You will be dealing with something that won’t change as well as your own disappointment and frustration at not being able to achieve your task. You will probably be surprised at how quickly physical stress disappears once you can accept the fact that some things are meant to be as they are and you stop trying to change them.

Conquering stress can be extremely difficult. It can manifest under many forms and it can be caused by a wide range of issues. You should talk to your doctor to find out what the real problem is before you take any OTC solutions or homeopathic remedies. There’s a chance you have a disease or that you were injured somehow. The good thing is that you can relieve your stress with a little bit of work and time.
