All Doctors Now Have The Ability To Find Your EHR Using A Centralized Medical System

Currently being shared through a systemic network, your EHR or your electronic health records can be accessed easily by medical professionals. This is installed as a precautionary system that can be accessed by any medical firm. In an emergency, you want the hospital to know who you are and what your medical history is. We never know what is going to happen on any given day so it is better to be safe than sorry.

These are considered meaningful use EHR programs. Thanks to the genius of the developers, we can now sit back and relax a bit knowing that hospitals will now know how to treat someone even if they have never met them before in an emergency. You know through this healthcare system what you are dealing with when a patient comes in and you know of past treatments, allergies and what meds they are taking. It is the simple things like these morsels of information that could save your life.

Most of the time in the emergency rooms it is a judgment call on the doctor’s part in how to treat a patient. Most of the time they are there for an emergency and are not sure what is going to have to be done. Whether this emergency is due to a car accident, fire, falls, or other health related ailment. However, if the patient is not able to communicate in any way what does the doctor do?

Sometimes when a person is brought into the ER they are not alert and cannot answer long questions. That is why it is better that there is a systemic system now in place so the treatments to patients can be faster and lifesaving. Make sure that if you haven’t visited your doctor in a while that you either do so or notify the office to update your personal information at least.

You need to keep the lines of communication open with your doctor because they are not mind readers and do not know what is going on with you all of the time. You need to keep your records current and have your health information added in whole or in a summarized form; the information to be collected should be: billing information, personal stats such as your height, age and weight, medications past and current, medical history, allergies, shot records, lab tests, radiology images and vital signs.

If you are in an emergency situation and have to be treated in such a way, it would be nice if the hospital had some way of getting your information. This EHR system can make the difference between life or death for you so be smart and contact your doctor’s office for an update or an appointment if necessary.
