Affixing To The Basics From Time Management 101

You may well be aware of the fact that you don’t have dandy time management skills, but you may not realize what to do about this. If this is true, be assured that your best bet is to get down to the basics. This is what time management 101 is all about.

First of all, what you need to get your head around is that all talk of time management is basically drivel. That’s for this simple reason: no matter what gives, there will never be more than 24 hours in a day. So what does this mean: well, it means that you can’t direct time per se, but that you can direct yourself.

This is really a plain example of thinking outside the box. The next item on the time management 101 agenda is to see how to get yourself motivated. If you aren’t motivated, you just cannot manage your time in any useful fashion. So try to list the things you need doing and include some rewards for yourself for when you accomplish those things. This is a way to keeping yourself motivated.

Another thing is to set up some routines. Have them around your workplace. Have them ready for the times set aside for your work-outs. And set some time aside for fun activities as well. Once you have gone through a well-planned routine for a while, you can more effortlessly make it a something habitual. This way you can accomplish things almost as if they were done automatically.

Don’t let yourself be troubled by the amount of time you devote to certain tasks. If you feel that you are at it all day without accomplishing anything, then try to place certain timely limits on tasks. And make sure that you allocate a commensurate time period for a given task; more for those that take more time, and less for those that don’t.

Watch out for time wasted while waiting for something or other. This is also a crucial time management 101 matter. Are you sitting in the doctor’s waiting room for a long time? If you anticipate this, take a book with you, or your diary to keep yourself busy with. This way the periods spent in waiting can be a productive time for you.

So take a step back and take a good look at how you are spending your time: this is basically the best way to manage time. Figure out where you are doing what on any given day. Then get organized and do things as best as you can to finish each chore on time.
