A Good Moisturizer For Sensitive Skin Might Not Even Be A Moisturizer At All

Moisturizing for sensitive skin is probably one of the most important aspects of sensitive skin care. Lose the moisture balance of your skin, particularly if you have hypersensitive skin, and you have problems.

Dry skin, itchy and scaly skin, redness and rashes are all possible.

So today we wanted to look at moisturizing sensitive skin and ask why the best moisturizer sensitive skin needn’t even be a dedicated moisturizer.

In fact when selecting a moisturizer the first thing you should think about is not how well it moisturizes. Sadly the most important consideration when selecting a sensitive skin moisturizer is whether or not it contains ingredients which may be harmful to your skin.

There has been much publicity recently about the safety of many of the ingredients used in so many of our personal care products including anti aging skin care products. The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics has been particularly active in publicising the fact that many personal products, including anti aging products, contain unsafe ingredients.

This might come as a shock to you, however there is much concern about the safety of many of the ingredients used in our personal products, including cosmetics, soaps and shampoos and more. To find out more about this visit my website to see a short video.

Moisturizers are no exception and many use petrochemical and chemical ingredients to achieve the result desired, namely better moisturizing. One of the more common ingredients found in many mainstream moisturizers is mineral oil which is derived from crude oil. The main reason it’s used is because it’s very cheap, not because it moisturizes well.

And anyone who has hypersensitive skin is doubly at risk of a skin reaction from ingredients such as mineral oil. In fact if you read a Material Safety Data Sheet (an advisory about the safety of mineral oil) it will warn you not to get it on your skin.

In fact there are excellent, safe, and effective ingredients available for manufacturers to use in top shelf anti aging products, which have been known for many years to have excellent moisturizing qualities. Avocado oil, Shea Butter and Macadamia Nut oil are just a few of them.

Sadly however these are usually overlooked because they are more expensive than chemical alternatives.

There is no reason why any high quality range of skin care products should not moisturize effectively. One of the most important aspects of achieving good skin care is moisturizing, including for sensitive skin, and for this reason it should not be necessary to buy a dedicated moisturizer. All quality skin care products should moisturize the skin effectively, if they don’t they are not high quality skin care products.

In fact I would go so far as to say that every single antiaging skin product should moisturize your skin, and if it doesn’t then it’s not worth buying. There is no need to buy a dedicated moisturizer.

There is no doubt that sensitive skin, and dry skin, has added requirements for moisturizing. However again I would say that any top shelf anti aging skin product should moisturize effectively. And this should include being effective at moisturizing sensitive and dry skin.

And there are excellent top shelf anti aging skin products, which don’t use chemical petrochemical ingredients and which do you safe natural ingredients, and which moisturize effectively for all skin types.
