A Brilliant Way to Slim Down: Walking

If you’ve decided to lose some weight then you’ll have most likely created some sort of exercise plan. Perhaps haven’t exercised previously, or at least not recently. If you don’t feel you know how to exercise very well, you can begin with walking. You must incorporate walking into your workout routine if it’s not already there.

It’s not difficult to add walking to your day-to-day routine. You and your pet can both exercise by walking around your neck of the woods. A minimum of 10 minutes daily may not seem like a lot of time spent walking until you realize that it is equivalent to 70 minutes over the course of a week. Taking your dog for a walk twice each day doubles that number. If you live close to where you work, consider walking all or a little bit of the way. However, if your office is a couple of hours away, you may not want to walk that far–unless you’re preparing for a marathon! A thirty-minute walk to work is possible and if you walk to and from work, you’ll be walking for at least 60 minutes per day. If you catch a bus, merely walk to the next bus stop so that you do some more walking every day. It’s not hard to incorporate walking into your daily routine.

Walking is terrific for your whole health. Since it’s a cardio exercise, you’ll burn up calories, which means you’ll melt off some pounds and it’s also wonderful for your heart. Unlike running, which can stress your joints, you can walk at a pace that works for you. My brother is very thin (but he consumes a lot of junk food) and I ask him how he he can remain thin. He states he has no idea but reminded me that he walks a lot each day. When he told me that, I had a better idea. Walking is a wonderful workout so there’s no reason you shouldn’t do it.

If you can get into the habit of walking everyday, it will come naturally to you and you’ll find it easy to shed off some pounds. If you walk on a regular basis, you’ll find that you feel more fit and are motivated to keep walking every day. You can hike up the intensity of your walking as you become used to walking daily. If you believe you’re ready to move on to something harder, don’t be scared to do it. Walk at a faster pace than you normally do and maybe jog for a few steps along the way if you feel keen to do it. The next thing to do is to progress to even more arduous exercises.

There’s no reason that you can’t try to walk a few minutes every day. Even if you have a lot of things on your plate, you can take out 10 minutes to walk around the area, or if you have a gym membership, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
