Becoming an early riser is an ability that many people would like to have, but often have great difficulty achieving. A key component of becoming an early riser is establishing a routine that you can follow daily. You can develop and adjust this routine over the course of several weeks, but be sure to stick with it, because it usually takes between three weeks and a month to develop a habit. The most important part of your routine is awaking at the same time each morning, even on weekends. By waking up at the same time every day, your body will know when it needs to go to sleep in the evening. Whatever time you choose, stick with it. In the evenings, simply go to bed when you are tired. If you lay awake in bed for more than 5 minutes or so, then you are not tired enough; read for a while and try again.
To help you in the morning, place your alarm clock far away from your bed, and leave the room immediately once you turn it off. This will set your day in motion and make it much less likely for you to go back to bed or hit the snooze button. Remind yourself of why you woke up early and what your goals are.
Further, take baby steps, and stick with it. If your goal is to wake up at 5:00 a.m. everyday and you are accustomed to waking up at 8:00 a.m., slowly work towards your goal. Wake up at 7:30 for a few days, then at 7:00, and so on.

Further, make waking up early a rewarding experience. You will have something to look forward to each morning and actually enjoy getting up.
