Lose Weight By Paying Attention to Food

If you want to lose weight and become healthier you need to pay attention to the food you eat and the amount of food you consume. In order for you to lose weight the healthy way you need to stay away from crash diets that usually only last two weeks but can put weight back on, and some can even damage your health. A diet change that is healthy and that is a lifestyle change is one that you will be able to see a healthy weight change for now and for your future.

In order to make healthy food choices look at your current diet patterns. What type of foods do you currently eat? Are there foods in your current diet that are high in fat or sugars? These are the foods that you need to cut out of your diet.

Break any bad food habits that you have such as late night eating, or snacking on junk food. Stop going to fast food restaurants just because you drive past them.

Choose drinks that do not have high calorie content. The best drinks to quench thirst are water, tea and any other drink that contains water such as lemonade. Stay away from alcoholic drinks and soda drinks.

Snack time is the downfall of many a dieter especially late at night snacking. Make sure that the snacks you have available to you are healthy snacks such as nuts, fruits and veggies. Reach for low calorie and low-fat snacks and purge your cupboards of any snack that is high carbohydrate or contains sugar as a first ingredient.

Never skip breakfast because this is the meal that cans jumpstart your metabolism and help you to burn calories all day long. Eat a big breakfast that includes lean protein, fruits and dairy.

Choose a light dinner instead of a large meal. Do not load the table with food only place on the table the serving sizes that are appropriate for those eating at the table. Only cook the amount of food you need for each meal so you do not have leftovers. Leftovers are tempting calories that can wreck your diet.

Food and exercise go hand in hand make sure that the amount of calories you consume each day are balanced by the amount of activity that you participate in that day. Exercise must be a part of your weight control regimen each day. Choose activities that will help you to exercise. Park the car further away from the entrance, use the stairs instead of the elevator, take your dog for a walk instead of making the kids do it.

A food diary is a wonderful way of keeping track of the food you consume each day. You may be surprised by the amount of food that you consume when you first start to keep a food diary. Most of us graze and are not aware of the amount of food that we are actually taking in each day.
