Looking Presentable While Losing Weight

Perhaps no other facet of weight loss requires as much attention to detail as a successful dieter’s professional appearance. This is true even if coworkers, friends, and family members were always used to seeing in baggy shirts and pants. Considering the fact that with weight loss there should follow a resurgence of the self esteem and overall feelings of self worth, it is curious that looking presentable while losing weight would be such a problem. Consider the following pitfalls and see if they may apply to your weight loss:

* Dieters losing weight while working in employment fields sensitive to public perception – banking, brokering, or real estate, where a single transaction regularly involves sums that are measured in hundreds of thousands of dollars — need to come across as reliable, well-informed, and unreservedly qualified is fulfilled by the dress and makeup. Competition in such fields is tough, and a person working in these venues can easily lose credibility, self esteem, and livelihood if making mistakes in their outward appearance.
* Start by making a professional impression with your outerwear. Purchase clothes which fit you, not clothes into which you hope to fit at some point in the future. In the same vein, do not purchase clothing that is a few sizes too big for you. It makes it virtually impossible for clients to take you seriously if your clothes are ill fitting, since it betrays a mindset that shows you unable to judge yourself.
* When you are in business to wow clients and instill confidence in them, the notion of having them see you in stained clothing or sweatpants is a turn off. In the same vein, if your neckline suddenly plunged way too low for a business setting, it shows a disturbing lack of judgment. Sure, you might be proud of the fact that you are losing weight, you are starting to feel comfortable with your changing body, and you want to attract the attention of the opposite sex, but doing so while in a work setting can seriously backfire. Until you have learned how to express yourself conservatively yet fashionably, err on the side of conservative attire.
* Image is everything when you are trying to get a client to trust you with a huge investment or a customer to place money in the hands of your company, and if your clothes are inappropriate, rumpled, ill fitting, and borderline gaudy, you have already lost the battle for that customer’s respect.

Last but not least, you need to be on the lookout for needed alterations. If you are losing weight or gaining a bit back, be prepared to make your clothes adjust for these occasions. Shopping for clothes cheaply does not have to be difficult. Instead, acquaint yourself with the inventory of your local second hand store, where you can find minimally damaged designer duds with a reasonable price tag. Best of all, if your local dry cleaner employs a seamstress, you can have your clothes taken care of quite cheaply to look like expensive custom tailored ware.
